NEW STORE: OLD HOLLYWOOD Owner’s Tiffany Porter has taken a 400 square foot space off Meserole Avenue and turned it into a safe haven for everything noteworthy and coming of age. “The inspiration for this store stemmed a little from my Southern roots and the 50’s,” noted Tiffany. Designers in Old Hollywood include handbags by Inherited Leather, jewelry by Digby & Iona and Species by the Thousands, feather necklaces by Ms KK, vintage reconstructed jewelry by Harlow in Chains and Telesca, and designs from Jezebel and Doll and Dame. Tiffany also plans on incorporating custom made period pieces to their inventory just as soon as their doors open in September. “I love the idea of replicating vintage pieces that are of quality and embellishing upon past mediums,” explained Tiffany. This perspective on vintage has not only proved successful for her as acting Buyer for Williamsburg’s Catbird, but will obviously prove forthright for Old Hollywood.
And, if knowing what the next “old” trends weren’t enough, it seems that Tiffany & Alex are keeping consistent by opening a Greenpoint location. Old Hollywood will mark a new era of boutique shopping within a neighborhood that to date, has had little to no exposure of such clientele. “We knew this neighborhood was perfect for us in our beginning stages…and what a breakthrough it will mark for future businesses aside from ours” explained Tiffany.
