KNOWN IN NEW YORK BECAUSE…: The downtown scene in the 70’s was dominated by Blondie and the scene of downtown punk. She became iconic because of her style: bleach blonde hair, sass, beauty, and rock and roll meets punk, hip hop and the wave of the future.

THE SCENE: CBGB, Max’s Kansas City, The Ramones, Warhol, The Factory, Studio 54, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

WHY WE LOVE HER: Her band was named after the most popular cat-call she got while walking down the street: Blondie.
